Lausanne

For those who don't know where Lausanne is, here is a map. It is in the south-west of Switzerland next to a awesome lake, called Genfer See or Lac Lemand. Around the lake are a lot of high mountains. We went there for three days to look around, my friend Werner will study there next term.

Before we drove to Lausanne we had to cross the german - swiss boarder. Well, normally that isn't a big problem but we didn't thought about the G8 meeting in Evian (also a city at the lake). At the border the police cop asked us where we want to go, we said Lausanne, than he checked our passports, this took a long time, that is not common anymore in europe. We didn't know why, a few hours later we knew why, thousands of anti G8-demonstrators (they are more interested in making trouble) had the same direction, Lausanne.

On the way to Lausanne we visited a friend of Petra and Werner in New Chattel (New Caste, sorry I don't remember the right name in french). There we had an awesome bbq (thanks a lot) and walked around the city and the old castle.

The castle is a stop worth. It is really nice one.

After two more hours we arrived in Lausanne. There was a terrible thunder storm and it rained like cats and dogs.

We put our tents up and had some dinner, after that we went to town for a short walk.

In town everything was closed. The people there were afraid of the anti G8 activists.
