This is a really nice area. There is nothing than stones and an awesome view. I am not hundred percent sure but I think we didn't see more than 5 cars the whole day on the 120 km's.

The stone formations are
interesting. The stone is a from a eruption. In the back you can see the
glacier. Under that is a big volcano which is still active. A few years
ago it erupted under the glacier. This caused a lot of ice melting and
the water ran down the valley. It was so much water that the street was
washed away. It took a long time to rebuilt it. The people had to drive
via north, this was a long detour of about 800 km to get to Reykjavik. |

having food on a typical rest area |
amazing |
After a really long ride we arrived in Kirkubärjarklaustur (try to pronounce it, isn't it a tongue breaker). We had a look on the map during the day and on the map we could see that there is a town (big letters on the map). Well, we thought in a town you find a shop and things like this but we were wrong. There was nothing, only a gas station and a damn expensive camping ground. So we decided to sleep behind the gas station and prepared food there.
