Fjord Land

We (Andrea, Johannes and me) left Christchurch and drove the usual way. We past Lake Tekapo and Queenstown. Both places are a stop worth. Johannes look around and did a lot of pictures. After 9h driving we arrived in Te Anau. The city isn't impressive, a tourist city. We looked for a backpackers and stayed there over night.

Normally we want to go kayaking at Milford Sound, but all Kayaks were booked and so we decided to go tramping at the next morning. From Te Anau we drove a little bit further towards Milford Sound. From .....

the road was closed due to snowing, so we took a left turn in the Hollyford valley. At the car park we met surprisingly some friends from CHCH, quite funny to drive about 700 km and meet some friends on a lonely hike. Direct behind the car park started the amazing nature with waterfalls, mountains, bush, ...

The way was going through a beautiful valley with a lot of waterfalls. One the left and right side there were high mountains, the peaks of the mountains were covered with snow.

Most of the time we had really good weather, compared with the rest of New Zealand. I guess we were in the only valley with sunshine at that weekend :-). After further walking we arrived at a impressive waterfall.

We walked further and arrived at the hut. Some people thought they have to take a bath.

The water was really cold and so I preferred to take a bath in the sun.

After such a bath it is really cold and so you need fire wood. At about 9:30 pm we could see a kind of sunset, all the clouds turned into red. The night was really cold and so we were happy to did the fire wood.
