I finished my second to last exam, I was quite happy about that. The exam was about FEM (well, I don't want to talked more about that, I guess it would be really boring for you). I put my stuff together one day before because I was in a rush. The exam finished at 12:30 pm, the bus left from downtown at 1:30 pm. Well, one hour is normally enough, but not if you have to go to the shop and a strong head wind. I had also to run from Aiko's flat about half a hour through the city with my heavy backpack.
Anyway, I got the bus and it was a really nice trip with a funny bus driver. I arrived in Hokitika at 6 pm, from there I thought I wouldn't be a problem to get a lift to Fox. Well, that was a illusion. Nobody took me, after one hour I got a lift at least to Ross. In Ross was a festival, like Guy Fawkes (someone who blew up some bombs). I went there and watched the party.

It was really cool, the whole town, even the whole west coast was in Ross. Everybody took part at the preparations. I walked around with my heavy backpack. The people were a little bit confused about that. "What is that dude doing here with an ice axe on a festival ground." Suddenly a firefighter came around and asked me if I want to put my backpack away in a secure place. That was nice, so I hadn't to carry all the time that thing. I guess this wouldn't happen in germany that someone offers you to put your stuff in his car.

It got darker and darker and the firefighter started the bonfire. It was quite impressive with all the different kinds of light, the sunset, the fire, the blue sky, the mountains.

Normally I wanted to go to Fox Glacier to meet Tim there but I couldn't get a lift so I had to stay in Ross. I walked back from the festival ground to the town asked for a bed in the hotel. The people there laughed about me because they saw me 3 hours before walking down the road. They already knew that I won't get a lift to Fox tonight.
