West coast

Let's go out of Christchurch: Where? To the West coast. I haven't been there. We left Christchurch on Friday afternoon. We passed the Luis Pass (between Springs Junction and Hamner Springs), stopped at hot springs. It was awesome to lie at eleven o'clock in the night in hot water, listen to the river and watch the stars. After that we drove to Charston, next to Westport. Here is a map.

The countryside is totally different compared to the east coast. Beautiful beaches, fascinating cliffs, Pancake Rocks. At the next morning we drove along the coastline. The weather was nice but cold.

We stopped at one cliff and climbed to the top.

After we drove to the Pancake Rocks. This is a bizarre stone formation. The name Pancake Rocks describes this site, it looks like pancakes.

Do you want to have a change in landscape. No problem in New Zealand. We had enough from the the ocean. Let's go in a cave. We are spelunker, have a lot of experience and good equipment.

First we had to walk through a valley, it took about one and a half hour. We arrived at the entrance and were amazed.

At the beginning I was scared, but after a while I want to go deeper and deeper.

It became smaller and smaller till we had to move along the ground on all fours.

Outside we saw the dirt on our clothes.

We watched the sunset and had a bonfire.
