Due to the fact that Seppel's back got better, we hiked from Lynn Valley via Hanes Valley up to Grouse Mountain. We took the chance to do some "glacier training" with our new equipment because of hitting some snow fields.

Seppel and me at the beginning of the trail.

Me, crossing a suspension bridge in the Lynn Valley.

Seppel's bag - Mammut... :)

Me crossing a creek via logs.

That's the trail - small and hidden between trees.

This is the helicopter station. The snow field right next to me is where we had to go.
After 12 km hiking in the valley, the steep sections begin.

Me, hiking up the first, rocky part. Fortunately, the sun came out and it cleared off.

We put our gear (crampons, harness, ...) on and started to "play" glacier hiking.

Ice ax training: In case I slide down I want to stop sliding by pushing the ice ax into the snow.

like that...

Hiking further up

Putting an ice anchor into the snow. Everything has to be tested...

Almost on the top, on Little Goat Mountain.

Seppel on the top. You can see UBC in the back (right)!
