3: raft footing

A raft footing transfers the seismic forces to the soil. Due to the fact that Vancouver is in a seismic active area the seismic load component governs the design and so these footings are huge. The one on the picture is just for a shear wall. Later on the footing for the elevator core will be built which is 5 times bigger in terms of the amount of concrete. This one has 500 cubic meters of concrete, five bottom and three top layers of steel.

The crane has nothing to do with the raft footing, it is just close by and so it will be poured together.

infront is the top layer of reinforcing bars, in the back it has to be placed
