Backcountry trip in our Backyard

It snowed a lot recently in Vancouver. We are getting lazy and didn't want to drive for 2 hours so we decided to go skiing in the local hills. Since Seppel's skis are in the shop we tried out slowboarding again. It is good fun but sometimes a pita. We also had to put our bindings on our boards since we haven't used them for ages (we thought already about sending them home).

Kerstin's board on our lazy chair

well, that's our backyard but we didn't skied here, big tree so

I love our ski racks, just amazing.

Up on Cypress Mountain, quite a bit of snow.

Kerstin and Downtown Vancouver in the background. It was an amazing day. Blue sky and powder.

there is a lot of snow on the trees

Kerstin on top of Hollyburn Mountain, the Lions in the back.

Nice couple, looking down to Howe Sound and Vancouver Island.

Finally we got some nice turns in.

Not bad considering it is only 20 minutes away.

I want my skis back. Slowboarding is no fun. Well, to be honest, riding down on a board is a lot of fun but if you stuck it ... .

After a while we got used to one board again.

POW in the local hills

Sometimes it is difficult to navigate but we found our way.

Happy afer a nice run.

We had to hike out since we ended up in a small riverbed.

We had good timing.

Black Mountain, Cypress Ski resort. That's the new Chairlift on Cypress Mountain.
