Wedgemount Lake day 2

We got up early, the alarm went off at 5:30 AM. It took us a while to get out of our tent.

We had some breakfast in the hut and left camp.

We reached the first plateau

Original we planned to go up higher but again we could see bad weather moving in so we didn't want to go further up. We had a short break and practiced our gear. Kerstin is putting in an ice screw.

That's how an ice screw looks like. They are really easy to use. The teeth at the bottom are really sharp so it is easy to screw them in. Here is more info about ice screws on wiki .

Testing the screw, pretty strong those things. I think they are rated to 10 kN which is equal to about 1000kg, good that we are not that heavy even so we live in North America :-).

Once we arrived at the camp it cleared up, same as yesterday. Well, we still had to hike down 1200m so it was probably good that we turned around.
