Brew Hut

We always wanted to go there in the summer or at least when there is no snow. I think we have been up there about 4 or 5 times. The weather forecast looked perfect so we packed our stuff Friday night, got up Saturday morning, picked up Aaron, Jenn and Roslin and drove to the trail head.

While in the winter time you have to start at the highway this time we could drive up the gravel road for about 8 km, quite nice. We still had to walk a bit on the road.

And then we had to bushwhack to find the trail.

Later on we hiked through old growth forest, a lot nicer and easier.

After about 3 hours we reached Brew Lake, in the back you can see Black Tusk and Garibaldi.

Everybody was tired and had a rest on the porch.

Inside the hut, we unpacked our food and had a snack.

The sun went down and the moon came up. Black Tusk and Garibaldi.

It was a pretty amazing day.

Inside the hut, we had a small party, well, a party with one bottle of wine, wasn't that crazy.

The next morning we woke up to blue sky, actually the sun was shining right into our face :-). That is the Basin we skied on Eastern, looks a bit different.

Since it was only a normal weekend (not a long weekend) we had to leave again :-(.

We hiked along the ridge and saw a couple of snow patches. Probably the snow won't melt this year, pretty crazy considering that the hut is at about 1700m. Must have been a lot of snow there.

The colours were pretty nice, well, summer is over even so it was about 28° degrees warm. Pretty crazy for mid September.
