New Years Skiing
We got up early to go skiing in Kitzbühel. First I couldn't be bothered to get up that early but once we were on our skis we really liked it, the slopes were so empty, best day to go skiing.
The Streif is a famous race, people from all over the world show up, even from Hong Kong.
Seppel is checking out the resort.
That's how people go skiing in europe, you catch the train to the base station of the gondola.
Bikepark, we are coming ...
Seppel and Kerstin in the gondola. Can you tell they have a special ski jacket outfit, puffy jackets.
Above Kitzbühel.
The weather wasn't really nice but it was pretty good fun, no line ups and decent snow.
Some of the older chairlifts. I remember the time when a chairlift with three seats was something, today if the chair doesn't disconnect you think it is slow. Sometimes I wish the old times could come back, slower lifts mean less people on the slopes.
Judith, my sister, obviously enjoying it. She was probably the best skier even so she didn't know.
Well, that's what happens when you trust the germans with the route finding, Seppel is lost and needs to look on the map, the gps (german positioning system) doesn't work so well in Europe.
Still lost or is he looking at the Summer picture?
No, he looked at the winter map. Quite a big resort.
Some sick Austrian Engineering.
Doppelmayr, pretty sure this one doesn't fall down. They built the same gondola in Whistler.
The span is pretty long, not as long as the Whistler one so.
We went for lunch in a typical hut. Since the weather wasn't that nice we went inside, luckily it was empty since it was New Years.
Man, the food was good. As a dessert we had Apfelstrudel.
Food is cheap and good in Europe, drinks are expensive. A coke is about 5$, beer is cheaper so.
Somebody having fun.
We continued skiing and came across a snow crib.
On our last run we skied the Streif, quite interessting to see it.
Later on we went for a good bye dinner with my parents. My dad and Daniel in front of the restaurant.
View down to Reit im Winkel.
Again, eat more.
Peter and Feli joined us.
Good bye Mum and Dad, it was nice to see you. Hope to see you soon! Thanks for everything.
Also to Peter and Feli for skies and a place to stay!
Victor, Kerstin and Sebastian!
