Hiking with Peter, Teresa, Sarah and Naomi

Peter and Teresa were visiting us from Zürich. They traveled around BC and stoped in Vancouver for 4 days. So we organized a hike in the wilderness with them. A bunch of other friends came with us, Sarah and Naomi. Even though the weather wasn't great, the hike was great, amazing glaciers, have to go back there one day in the winter and / or summer. The Hut is the Harrison Hut of the VOC.

Pretty amazing scenery.

benz

River crossing, fun, big times!

It was bloody cold, not sure if Teresa is laughing or crying, at least she smiled.

It cleared up for a short time and we could see the beauty of the landscape.

The hut: Simple but good.

a

Having a relaxed night at the hut.

a

Our new dinner on hikes: Wraps with couscous, avocado, goat cheese and tomatoes, pretty good for hikes.

a

The next morning we went for a short hike around the area.

a

Enjoying lunch: Sarah and Naomi.

a

Not enjoying lunch or just the typical european coolness.

a

We spent another night at the hut and hiked out the next day.

a

This time we tried to cross the river in a different way, hoping to have dry feet afterwards.

a

The weather wasn't nice but somehow pretty amazing.

a

Kerstin trying to find the correct way.

a

:-), what is so funny here Naomi?

a

More hiking.

a

Some of the first snow of the season.

a

On the way out we stopped at some hot springs. Those are natural hot springs, if you want to go here one day: Meager Creek Hot Springs.

a

I don't like Hot Springs!

a

Some engineering. This bridge was washed out about 5 years ago and the whole area was not accessible. The government replaced it about a year ago, probably because of logging. I just got an e-mail a week ago that the road got washed by a massive flood 2 km down the road so it won't be accessible for a while. Too bad.

a

This is a picture of the washed out road, quite impressive, luckily that was 4 weeks after we went there.

a

Looks like those people can pick up their car the next year. The people did the same hike we did and when they wanted to drive home that's what they saw. If you look at the size of the trees you can imagine how big the slide was. I read on the internet that the owner of the car went back the weekend after to make the car "winter fit".
