Mexico Part III: Cancun

To finish our vacation in Mexico we decided to go to Cancun and enjoy Christmas at the Caribbean Beach.

We flew from GDL via Mexico City to Cancun so we had a chance to see Mexico City from the sky.

After we arrived at the hotel we went for a walk in the evening sun.

The next day we went snorkeling. This included a catamaran trip.

Are you ready to see some sharks?

After the snorkeling we had the chance to go for a walk on a nearby island.

I like the colours on this picture.

Christmas, yeah, today is the 24th.

The trip included also a lunch at nice beach on the island.

Seppel swimming in the Caribbean.

We found a coconut and tried to open it without success.

aaa

Even with brutal force there was no way we could get that thing open, damn tourists.

a

Seppel found a sled, might take that home to BC and rip it in some powder.

Back on the catamaran.

a

On the way home to our resort we saw a pelican.Who is more afraid?

a

Christmas eve we went to the church which was packed. Unfortunately it was in spanish so we didn't understand a single word.

a

The next day we went to the pyramids of Chitzen Itza, quite impressive.

All the temple were painted blue and red but the paint came off over the years.

There is still a lot of research happening. Those excavations are fairly new.

Pretty amazing art.

Back at the temple. Actually Seppel has been here exactly 17 years ago. He still could remember a few things. Back then you were allowed to go up to the temple but they changed this.

On the way back we stopped at some water caves where we could swim in, pretty amazing.
