Sasquatch Festival

No, it has nothing to do with the Olympics or Quachi, it is a music festival down in Washington State at the Gorge. We arrived late, or should I better say early in the morning :-). It was Arndt's birthday so we had to celebrate something.

They had to celebrate something: Arndt and Caro got engaged. Congratulations!

We finally went to bed around 7am (me and Kerstin slept for about 3 hours on the road in our van). After a short nap we put up our camp, very important at a festival.

And what belongs to a decent camp: A decent flag. Well, we had the flag but no flag post so we ductaped a bunch of ski poles which Andrew had in his car together. Great Kiwi - German engineering team work! We used Arndt's boat rack as the footing. Since the area was defined as a construction site now I had to wear a high visible vest.

After all camp duties were done we headed into the event ..., THE GORGE, amazing amphitheatre.

Andrew and Sarah enjoying the show.

And the sun went down over the canyon.

a

Pretty amazing light show.

a

Next morning we are getting ready for another day at the festival.

This happens when you use the inside lights too often, good old Blazer, do you miss him already Arndt?

a

The columbia river doesn't let you alone.

a

Another day, another light show.

I think that was Massive Attack, best show at the festival.

Next day we drove home to Vancouver. We took a bit of a detour via the North Cascade Highway, pretty nice. First we drove along the Columbia River.

a

Pretty soon the road led us into the mountains.

a

The road is closed in winter and just opened a couple of weekends ago. Skitouring would be rad here if I would have a sled.

Later on we came along Ross Lake. We went hiking at the end of the lake about 3 years ago, pretty cool to come here. I always saw this road on the map.

a

More Ross Lake.

a

160 MegaWatt, that is quite something.

a

Wicked trip!
