Riding the Surveyor Ridge

Before we came to Hood River I check the internet in Vancouver for places to go / to ride. The first thing which came up was Surveyor Ridge. Must be good so lets give it a go ...

Weather didn't improve. We could see a bit of snow and the toe of the glacier.

I must say the trails in Oregon are some of the nicest trails I have ridden. Super smooth, everything is ride able and they are pretty exhausting. I think today we rode about 40 km or so. Kerstin is too fast for the shutter speed (shreddin too hard).

It started to pour down so we had a short stop. It lasted only for 5 min. so I guess I could call it shower but it was heavy.

And that's how trees / brunches look after a rain shower. It almost looks like there is no bark on them.

The new bike is going pretty well. Kerstin never believed me that there is a difference in bikes other than the colour but with the new bike she gets over a lot more stuff, especially the uphill stuff goes a lot better. Part of this are probably the clip pedals but also the rear suspension helps to keep your rear wheel on the ground which gives you more traction.

View down into Hood River Valley with Mt. Hood in the background (well, we couldn't see it either).

Lunch, very important!

One of my favourite spots, it was pretty windy up there.

We almost went to the end of the trail but since we both got pretty tired and had to ride it all back we turned around at some stage.

We got to the car and it started to pour down like cats and dogs so we jumped into the driver and passenger seat, left the bikes outside and waited till the rain was over. In between we cooked some pasta in our small little cooker. Later on we drove towards Bend, a town 100 miles south. On the drive we saw this amazing rainbow.
