Drive to Death Valley
Since the soccer game started at 11:30am and wasn't done till 1:30pm the day was almost over and we still had a long way in front of us.
It was hot! That is not even the Death Valley jet but it looks pretty dead and it was!
They also have some pretty long roads in the US ...
... and you thought the road looked long on the previous picture
Good that we go below sea level so it gets a bit warmer!
Boom! 42 degrees at 6pm or so. It was hot!
To make it a bit warmer we went into the sand dunes. I read on a sign that the sand gets up to 90 degrees (Celsius, not Fahrenheit!). I really struggled here.
Pretty cool so to have sand dunes without an ocean. There was a sign with an explanation but I don't remember it, I guess the heat burned / boiled the part of my brain where this memory was stored.
Solar power wouldn't be a bad idea here.
Where does this road go to?
We went to the campground in Death Valley and we were wondering why it was so empty. There was also a sign OFFSEASON, we would understand later why.
We had a nice sunset so.
And the mountains turned red. Once the sun went down we were hoping that it cools down a bit, well, that what it normally does.
It didn't! Well, it did a little bit, from 106 F to 96 F (42 C to 35 C or so), that's what we read the next day. Now I also understood why it was off season. If you ever go to Death Valley don't go there during the summer. We left all windows and doors open in our car but it was still bloody HOT.
