Zion Canyon

Another day another Canyon. This time Zion Canyon. I actually don't know why it is called Zion Canyon but the whole area has religious names. I think the first settlers have to do something with it. Anyway, here are some pictures.

Those three peaks were also named after people of the Bible, I don't remember the names so.

Since the Canyon is pretty narrow there is a bus shuttle service in the park. You can't drive in with your car. The bus is on a 8 minute schedule, you can hop on and off at all the stops, pretty convenient. We got of at one of the stops and started to hike up that peak on the left of the picture ...

I was a bit afraid, scary heights.

After hiking for about 1.5 hours we reached the higher plateau. From here you could continue along the ridge. I didn't continue, I just enjoyed the views from there but Kerstin did.

The view from the top. You can see the road and one of the bus stops. Pretty high, I think it is a about 500 m straight down.

Good that there is a chain :-).

Kerstin picked me up at mid station and we walked down together. I actually was quite happy about the rest since it was bloody hot, I think it was 40° C.

Once we were back down we looked back up.

You can actually ride the road on a bike, must be pretty intimidating with those high walls of the canyon.

We left the main canyon and continued our drive towards Bryce Canyon.

There was another World Cup game going on next morning so we had to find a place where we could watch TV at 8 am. There is not much around so we found this place where we went for dinner.

And that's where we stayed. After fixing the wireless internet I realized that they wouldn't have ESPN, the channel you can watch soccer on. Well, the lady offered me to watch it in the office. Pretty funny (or should I say strange?) place.

The diner from inside, 100% america! That's why we came.

Seppel hooked up with the waitress.
