Hiking to the Garibaldi Lake

When I knew I had 3 weeks around Vancouver by myself I was thinking of what to do. And one of my favourite places is Garibaldi Lake. So, I planned on hiking there myself. A few days later I talked to Caro about it and she said they plan a hike as well the following weekend. Perfect - I didn't have to go alone. We ended up being 6 and had a great time!

We arrived at Garibaldi Lake.

It is a long and not so interesting hike up but once you are up it is amazing!

Since it was warm, we ended up swimming in the lake. The temperature of the water was super cold, the lake is fed my glacier water. But it was sunny and nice so you would warm up quickly after swimming. Amy and James jumping in.

We decided late that day we would hike towards Black Tusk.

Once we got a good view towards Black Tusk we decided we had enough and started fun games like throwing snowballs...

I came up with that crazy idea to get up at 2 am and hike up to Panorama Rich for the sunrise. so we went to bed and put the alarm clock to 2 am. Unfortunately some people were partying up there and were super noisy. By the time we got up they stopped but most of us (actually everybody besides me) didn't really sleep that night.

It was cold and we were tired but we had fun. Black Tusk in the back.
The snow was still frozen when we went up so it ended up being really slippery. We decided to have a nap on one of the rocks to wait for the sun to warm up the snow.

Once back at the campground we decided to sleep,swim and relax in the sun. We were pretty tired and enjoy the day up there.

Later on in the afternoon we hiked out. Most of us had to work the next day again...

Thanks for the great trip! It was a special hike I won't forget.
