Capitol Reef National Park

We left Salt Lake City and headed further south-east, there are a bunch of National Parks and since skiing and snow wasn't amazing anywhere that was our next aim.

On the way we passed by at some history.

The mill and yes, we are in Canyon Land!

Some Buffalo

The entrance to Capitol Reef National Park.

Pretty impressive landscape, so different than the rain forest in Vancouver. It was windy and cold, well, I guess it is still winter.

We did two hikes, first we hiked to this arch above, this was about 3 miles or so (yes, we are imperial now here). Later on we hiked through that canyon for about 1 hour and ended up on a plateau. From there we continued a bit further and did a loop, the hike was about 9 miles or so.

The canyon became pretty narrow at some sections.

Can you see that big arch? That was our aim.

Kerstin on top of the arch, good that she is not afraid of heights as I am. Can you see my shadow lower down?

Hiking back to the car, we got a bit lost once :-).

Jumbo was happy that we were back and didn't get completely lost in the wilderness.

and a map so you know where we are
