Canyonland National Park
We thought it is time for another National Park. Canyonland is just outside Moab, about a 20 min. drive. You think you can't see much different than in the one before but you get there and every time it is pretty amazing what nature can do in 150 million years. Canyonland was just BIG. Also the different plateaus are amazing. The Canyons on different levels look like somebody went in with a saw and cut them out. Have a look at the pics and you can see what I mean.
What would be a National Park without an arch?
Now you see what I mean by different plateaus and cutting them out with a saw. This is the Colorado River you can see there.
Out of the sudden the stone colour changed from red to white. There are two theories: This used to be a massive lake, well, ocean, back in the day (I think about 50 million years ago) and salt deposited. Since salt is lighter than sandstone it rises. The other theory is a meteor. I think whenever scientist don't know how to explain stuff they use the meteor option.
More canyons, well, it is called Canyonland.
Have to practice a bit more with the camera but light conditions were tough today.
They also made some pretty cool pictures. Snowstorm on the left and sun on the right.
You could see those dark clouds before? The cow probably thinks: What the heck are you doing here and why are you taking a picture of me, never seen a cow in the snow? Answer: No, never seen a cow in snow before :-).
