Mount Kosciuszko: The highest Mountain of Australia

Paul recommended us to climb the highest peak in Australia. Ski season was still on so there was a bit of snow left.

We woke up at our campground to a beautiful day.

We started in the village and first had to hike through Australian bush.

After about one hour we got to this viewing platform where we could look down into the valley.

Only a few more meters to the Bergstation.

And that's what the climb looked like. Far in the back you can see Mt. Kosciuszko. Since there are so many people they put down those board walks.

Almost at the top.

We made it. 2200 meters above sea level or so.

Summit!

We had only one hour left to get to the top of the chairlift which we wanted to take down, for free since we walked up :-).

a

We had to run a bit.

We made it, there were about 10 minutes left. It took us a total of four and a half hours from the village to the top. I think it is about 1000 meters and 18 km's, not bad. We were pretty sore.

In the village we ate a meat pie and studied the advertisements for ski resorts, Whistler was in it.

On the way home we saw this dude.

We went to the supermarket and got 1 kg of kangaroo mince (Hackfleisch), yummy!
