3rd day - Oturere Hut back to the Village

We woke up to a blue sky so we had breakfast outside.

We had a tight schedule those days so we started hiking at around 8 am, got up at around 6ish.

Mt. Ruhapehu, the highest mountain on the North Island.

The view was amazing.

One thing I really liked about this hike was that the terrain changes quite often.

Clouds moved in but that didn't change our hiking spirit.

It was again a long day, I think around 20 km or so.

Almost at the village ...

We met a crocodile called Kerstin on the way. I think it came over recently from Australia or Germany.

A school class walked by... this is a popular walk.

We drove back to Chris and Chris's, the parents of James, my ex workmate. We had dinner together with them and chatted about lots of things. Thanks for having us! From left to right: Chris, Chris, Judith, Mona, Kerstin, Cathy and me.
