Wharariki Beach and Farewell Spit

We met Naomi, a good friend of us from Vancouver, in Nelson. She would join us for the next 2 weeks which was great. Our first aim was Wharariki Beach and Farewell Spit. I think this is one of my favourite places in New Zealand. It is not too touristy and has amazing landscape to offer.

On the way towards Farewell Spit, an old dock.

Golden Bay, not too golden today.

First I came here about eight and a half years ago with Tanja. I think after this I took every visitor there.

Lots of sheep and lots of people.

Kerstin, Judith and Naomi walking towards the ocean.

Hopefully it is not going to collapse.

Wharariki Beach has to offer everything, arches, sand dunes, wild life and even caves.

We saw this guy but didn't want to get too close.

From Wharariki we went over to Farewell Spit which is only a short drive. All we could see was sand.

And more sand.

On the walk back I saw those green patches, quite the contrast.

Even more sheep.

View down into Golden Bay.
