Christchurch, coming back to a place where I lived for one year as a student ...
We had to say goodbye to my sister Judith and our friend Naomi from Canada, Judith flew home and Naomi drove back to the North Island. Thanks a lot for traveling with us, it was good fun even so it was a bit different to hang out with 3 girls 24/7 :-).
We had to do a bit of shopping in downtown (no real shopping, just gear shopping for our upcoming trip to the Southern Alps) and we saw this poster which, Kerstin thought, a good friend of us, Sarah, designed.
Christmas is about to come soon, doesn't feel like it so at 30 degrees.
What the world cup in soccer was for Germany is the Rugby world cup for New Zealand.
The tram, just a touristy thing to do.
Went here once with Andrew and Joe to watch the final in 2002 against Brasilia.
As probably everybody knows there was a pretty big earthquake in September, you could see still damage all around the city.
More damage and scaffolding.
Actually I never went onto the Avon River, I wanted to do it this year but we ran out of time.
My first place where I used to live 8 years ago, third floor second window from the right. I only stayed there for 2 month, too many international students and I wanted to improve my limited english.
My second flat, Girvin St. 5. Won't forget this place, that is for sure! I actually was curious if the place is still standing or if it would have been torn down by now, wouldn't have surprised me to be honest.
Later on we stopped at the beach in New Brighton.
That's where we stayed with Michael and his family, thanks a lot again. The Port Hills in the back.
After dinner we took the boards and went for a surf, not a bad life here at the beach. The water was actually pretty warm, Kerstin went in without a wet suit.
