Doing it the lazy way

After 4 intense days of hiking we flew down with a heli. I have never been in one and since it was my birthday it was a nice present. Also the hike down would be very steep and pretty dangerous.

We drove up along the coast to Hokitika where we had a nice Backpackers on the beach. I went for a swim in the ocean. Probably the only time in my life I go for a swim in the ocean on my birthday.

I found this piece of brick wall on the beach. Interesting to see how the edges are rounded of by the water. It must have fallen into a river, washed down into the ocean and then washed on shore again.

Later on we had cooked a nice dinner.

And we made a fire. What a day, heli flight, swim in the hot springs, swim in the ocean and a fire to finish the day off.
