Mount Rolleston Attempt
We got up early since we were a bit worried about the snow conditions, I think it was 3:30 when the alarm clock went off.
We had to hike for one hour with head lamps, it was pitch black. Once the sun came out we gained already quite some elevation.
The terrain changed a lot which made it interesting.
Some scrambling.
Some Mountaineering.
Kerstin leading the way up.
Malcolm had a hard time to keep up with Kerstin, 3 weeks of hiking makes you fit.
Just underneath the col where we would turn around.
View down the other side.
Unfortunately it was cloudy up there so we couldn't go any higher.
We headed back down.
Looks like some big avalanches come down here in winter.
This is still New Zealand but it looks like Switzerland.
Well, the plants don't look like Switzerland.
That's where we were.
Too bad that the weather wasn't as nice when we were up there.
Back at the cabin, meat pie + beer!
