Zermatt day 2: Gornergrat
Our aim today was Gornergrat. Gornergrat is famous for its cog wheel train. It is probably one of the highest trains, at least in the alps. Since it is so steep it has a cog wheel between the two tracks. The top of the train is just above 3000 m, from there we had a massive downhill in front of us. I don't want to rave too much about it but it was probably the best ride of the year.
Adelaide was excited to go shredding.
First we had to ride from Täsch to Zermatt.
In Zermatt we went to the tram station and bought tickets for 45 stutz (that's how the swiss call their swiss franc) each, one way. If you own a half tax card (like a 50 % train card) it is half price, not bad actually. It's a lot of money but it was worth it.
Looking out of the train over Zermatt towards Matterhorn.
During summer time roughly 150 people try to climb that thing!
At the top of Gornergrat.

Nice glaciers, should do some mountaineering here.
I really like that picture.

From Gornergrat we rode almost all the way down to the village. From there we rode back up to Sunnega. It was a fairly long ride back up and we even had to push the bikes once in a while.
Kerstin riding up a gravel road, pretty tiring after 6 hours of riding. I remember skiing (well, boarding) on that ridge on the right.
Down from Sunnega towards Täsch, 1500 m downhill.
Big mountain riding.
Since we were pretty late there weren't any hikers.
Amazing light at the end of the day.
Almost sun set. We were pretty late so we had to hurry up. We made it back to the camp ground just in time, five minutes after arriving it got pretty dark ...
