Rheinwaldhorn Day 2

Perfect weather for the summit day! We could see the peak from the hut. Later on we would walk along the ridge on the right.

Breakfast, well done Peter! All we had with us for dinner / breakfast were those meals where you have just to put water to it, amazing!

After this filling breakfast (potatoes with meat) we started touring. First we had to do some climbing sections.

Reminds me of Canada somehow, large remote valley.

Luckily there was a sign, otherwise we would have been lost. Those are the slopes we skied yesterday.

Spring is coming!

And now the sketchy section started. There was a 150 m drop to the left and to the right. We had to go along the ridge.

Doesn't look to sketchy here.

There were sections where you couldn't place a pole, you just need to balance on your skis, downhill skiing with skins on a narrow ridge are not my favourite routes.

After we managed this section we were on the glacier again, pretty easy going here.

On the top, roughly at 3410 m.

The Rheinwaldhorn

After we skied the the 2000 m vertical in 30 min. or so we had to walk flat for along time :-(.

We would need to catch a bus in 45 min. at the dam.

We even had to go uphill, pretty hard after being on the skis already for 9 hours or so.

We didn't get the bus but luckily somebody gave us a ride to the train station. At the train station we bought some no name red bull drink, great stuff after a long ski day, the drink was ok, Peter wasn't, he was ko.

I was sunburned!

The Rheinschlucht

The Rheinschlucht and Flims - Laax where I used to ski back in the day with my parents! Cool to come back here. Actually it is only 1 hour away from where we live now in Feldkirch.

Yard sale at the train station. I had to wait for peter since he picked up the car.
