Snowshoeing on Seymour Mountain

After we rented always snowshoes, either from friends or from MEC, we finally bought some last week (got them cheap via a friend) and tested them at the weekend. We drove to Seymour Mountain which is the right mountain of the Vancouver North Shore Mountains. The ski season is supposed to start the following weekend which means it was nice and quiet up there. Since Seppel picked up his work permit at the border to the US in the morning :-) we started late (early afternoon).

That are our snowshoes...

That is the base station of Seymour station - quite a lot of snow!

Seppel, after a few minutes hiking up. A few people snowshoed here before but we found our lonely trails...

After a short scream i found Seppel being caught in the snow. He couldn't get out easily without my help.

That was the view from one of the peaks - towards the west: Grouse Mountain. The weather was amazing.

View towards downtown and UBC.

Seppel going down the slope. The North Shore Mountains are quite steep so once in a while there are avalanches or people fall off cliffs.

The sunset was so great. Just the way how the light came through the branches!

Back at the base station it got dark - perfect timing!
