First day in New York: Crazy City

We left Vancouver on Friday night the 28th of December. After a 3 hour drive we arrived at the airport in Seattle. The plane left around 11pm so we could sleep in the plane. The next morning we woke up in New York where we met Laurene and Werner who arrived at the same day from Frankfurt, Germany. Laurene and Werner are starting to work in New York on the 2nd.

On the highway driving into downtown New York.

Since Laurene and Werner moved to New York they had quite a view bags. We got a big car so that everything could fit in. Kerstin in front of Laurene and Werner's new home.

After unpacking the luggage, checking out the "new home" and relaxing on the sofa for a view minutes we went for a walk in downtown. Times Square was only 5 blocks away. Seppel on the Times Square.

it was busy like hell

You don't know where to look since everywhere are blinking lights!

The black squares are windows.

Kerstin and Seppel in the subway. The subway system is great in NY. You don't have to wait long and it is only 2$ for a ride wherever you want to go.

The next morning we walked around town. Our first aim was the financial district.
Kerstin in front of the Stock Exchange.

even some low rise old style buildings

We caught the Staten Island Ferry which runs by the Statue of Liberty.

On Staten Island, the skyline of Manhattan in the back.

We went back into downtown and couldn't see much more than high rise buildings.

Werner took us up to his new office.

View out of Werner's office: Central Park.

See how close the buildings are.

We walked by an interesting building which is supported on just 4 columns and a huge core.
On the left is the bottom and on the right what is coming above the core with the 4 columns.

crazy and scary

After a whole day walking around we were quite tired and went to bed early.
